New Beginnings
There always is something
sort of awesome in the starting of a new year, largely because we have been
brought through so much, and we look forward to seeing what God has in store for
us in the coming year.
Many have gone through so
much in the past year, and I am constantly reminded of all the tragedy that so
many have had to endure because of things beyond their control.
One of the subject
suggestions for this month’s topic was “Forgiveness”: This seems to be a
struggle for Christians and Non Christians alike, and that is too bad, because
the ability to forgive hinges on how free God is to work in our lives. We seem
to be intent on holding grudges, whether they be little things, or big things,
it doesn't matter.
The problem is that if we
can't bring ourselves to forgive, how do we expect to be forgiven? I know, already someone is
saying, "He don't know what he is
talking about." but I think I do, because I am seeing, both in and out
of the church, the damage an unforgiving spirit can, and is doing today.
It is tearing down good and upright people every day. The Bible teaches
forgiveness, and it says if you can't forgive, then you can't be forgiven.
Did you know that the
biggest problem area as far as forgiveness is concerned, is our families? Big breaches have divided
families so bad, that even in some cases their names aren't allowed to be
mentioned in the home.
Christian friend, it
doesn't matter how bad something is that has been done to us, We Must Forgive. We must love them in spite of, and then the
next part of forgiveness is the ability to put it on the altar and then forget
it. Oh you say, that is impossible; I work on this everyday, and I really do
believe that I getting better at forgetting than I used to be. The real
part of forgiveness is being able to forgive ourselves for things we have done
to hurt ourselves, and others. To be where God wants you and I
to be hinges on the word forgiveness.
If you make new years
resolutions (I don't because I don't
believe they are something that can be assured of keeping), then resolve
that you are going to start the year out forgiving.
We have an example to set
forth to those around us, and our words will be completely meaningless if
forgiveness stands in our way. We never win anything, or anyone, if all we do
is go through the motions.
May your New Beginning
become a victory for you.
God Bless You,
