WHEN WILL JESUS RETURN?
Rev DL Whittaker, Washington
We
know, if we have been listening, that Jesus is coming soon.
There
are many skeptics who ask constantly; when is Soon? We have heard all of
our lives that Jesus is coming soon, but we haven't seen Him yet. Folks,
that is entirely up to God. He has a time for everything.
His
word says, "We know not the day, nor the hour, when the coming will
be" but we are commanded to watch diligently and be ready.
Perhaps,
it would be better if we dropped the word “soon”, and just announced that
Christ is coming. If we did that, would we live our lives any
differently? Perhaps, but in many cases, I rather doubt it. We have
gotten too modern in how we think about Christ and our commitment.
Folks:
Look around you. Especially those of you who think you need a sign. Would
a sign encourage you to prepare any more than you already are? The signs
are all around us. The word told us that there would be wars and rumors of
wars; strife on every hand, etc. Even the Christian has trouble
overcoming the human nature enough to get along with "our"
neighbor. We don't act at all like we believe what we say we are about.
In
the year 2005 - I believe that if we all pull together and get serious about
our walk with God, we can make a difference! The reason the five virgins got
themselves in trouble was because they didn't live like they believed the
Bridegroom was coming, so, they didn't prepare. Then they wanted assistance
from the five that were prepared.
The
church and its pastors need to get with the program. How can the church have
the hope, and the help, if their leader doesn't have it to give. Jesus is
coming! It could be this year!
It
isn't our place to know when, just that it is going to happen… and when we
least expect it!
God
bless you,
Dave
